Police: Bristol man Tenn. arrested for firing shots as the team mowed his yard | WJHL

BRISTOL, Tennessee (WJHL) – A man faces charges after police say he fired shots as a city work crew mowed his yard.

Police in Bristol, Tennessee, arrested Greg Hensley and charged him with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment.

According to the police department, officers responded around noon Tuesday to a report of gunfire from the residence at 1616 Maryland Avenue.

“The lawn of the residence did not appear to have been cut since the start of the mowing season, and a team, hired by the City, was there to cut the grass,” the police said in a statement.

After the workers started mowing, one of them said he heard gunshots coming from the house and believed the shots were being fired from a window and in his direction. Neighbors also reported hearing gunshots.

Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the house. The Police Department said after officers attempted to contact Hensley by phone and public address system, he was released from the residence around 45 minutes later and was taken into custody.

No one was injured in the incident.

The police department said additional charges were possible pending the outcome of the investigation.
