BRENTWOOD, Tennessee – The Ohio Valley Conference today announced its annual ESPN linear basketball program and the University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team will be featured in the first of 10 demo games in 2021-2022.
The Skyhawks’ road contest in Tennessee State on Thursday, Jan.6 was selected as part of the league’s national television package. The departure from the Gentry Center in Nashville, TN has now been adjusted for 6 p.m. as the game will air on ESPNews.
A total of seven OVC regular season games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. After UT Martin’s game in Tennessee State will be SIUE in Eastern Illinois on January 13 (ESPNU), SIUE at Tennessee Tech Women’s Basketball on January 20 (ESPNU), Belmont at Morehead State on January 20 (ESPNews), Morehead State in Southeast Missouri on January 27 (ESPNU), Austin Peay at Murray State on February 17 (ESPNU) and Belmont at Murray State on February 24 (ESPNU).
In addition, the last two rounds of the 2022 OVC Championship will be broadcast live on national television. The two semi-finals on March 4 will air on ESPNU while the finals on March 5 will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Today’s announcement gives the Skyhawks three nationally televised games on the 2021-22 schedule. UT Martin will play on SEC Network at No.17 in Tennessee in the season opener on November 9 before an ESPNU contest at No.17 in Ohio State on December 21.
The Skyhawks are also expected to appear on the ESPN3 or ESPN + streaming services 23 times this season – including all home games and OVC. Overall, over 200 regular season OVC games and regular season non-conference home contests will air on ESPN + in 2021-22.
